Grace Church

Converting an existing large choir rehearsal room to a 400-seat chapel enabled Grace Church to offer a pure traditional Sunday worship service to supplement its blended contemporary / traditional service offered in the main 4,500-seat sanctuary.  The chapel also expands this multi-denominational church’s ability to provide a more intimate setting for wedding and funeral services.

Design centered on sound isolation to enable simultaneous services in the Sanctuary and Chapel spaces and prevent activity from nearby rehearsal room from disrupting Chapel events.  To address worship leader desires to create a strong collective worship experience and avoid the sensation of signing to the congregation, specific strategies were applied to ceiling and wall shaping.  The result enhanced space acoustics to better support an environment in which worship leaders felt at one with the congregation.
