In between assignments, AD’s team is active on multiple thought leadership initiatives oriented to community – particularly the education community.
David Kahn co-presented with Dave Irvin, Associate VP for Facilities at Florida State Univ., to facility planners and operators at the APPA (Leadership in Educational Facilities) 2022 national conference. Their session, “Ensure Success? Pick the Right Design Consultant!”, spoke of the selection process for A/E firms and specialty consultants for university performing arts center (UPAC) projects. Content was based on David Kahn’s article, The Design Team Selection Process, published in the Fall 2021 National Council of Acoustical Consultants Newsletter. The session included real world experiences of both presenters. Presented via Zoom, discussion helped highlight ways attendees could better serve their internal clients as more effective collaborators. David Kahn also recently conducted two clinics at the TMEA 2023 conference in San Antonio. One clinic explored how participants can maximize the potential of their facilities. Clinic 2 walked attendees through the A/E design process and highlighted ways for attendees to advocate for design excellence for their work environments.
